Is it possible to sue someone in other country ? If a person or company from USA can sue a person in India ? If so how much it costs ? How long does it take ? Where the case will get held in USA or in India ?
Sure it's possible. But it can be time-consuming and expensive, it depends on the kind of case, and you'd have to fret how to enforce that on someone who's beyond your reach. If you want that lawsuit to have any effect on the person you wish to hold accountable, then you'd have to sue in that person's location.
Is it possible to sue someone in other country ? - YES IT IS POSSIBLE If a person or company from USA can sue a person in India ? YES, THIS IS THE SAME AS QUESTION #1 If so how much it costs ? WHAT? THE LAWYER? THE FILING FEE? How long does it take ? DEPENDS ON THE TYPE OF CASE Where the case will get held in USA or in India ? DEPENDS WHERE IT IS FILIED _________ That being said, it sounds like you are worried cause someone threatened to sue you. Unless there is $40,000 at stake, nobody is filing a lawsuit against you and I would not worry about it. They would have to serve you - and more importantly, prove that you are subject to the jurisdiction of US courts. Even if they did all that, and won the case, how do they get paid? If you do not have US assets then they would never get anything. Basically, unless there is a ton of money at stake the person is just threatening you and will never sue. That is based on all the facts you didn't give us, but that I just assumed.
Some laws that apply in the US, dont apply in other countries. So i would check if it is even worth following through with...
As the person above said. Some countries will ignore any legal action coming from another country. For instance, you can almost never legally prosecute somebody in Russia if you're in the US. Same is true for Nigeria. I believe it's true for India, but not sure.
Because those threads appear on the index page of this forum under "Popular Threads Right Now": https://forums.digitalpoint.com/ The question should go to the owner and the mods as to why those threads appear on the index page and confuse everyone. Just now I took a screen shot of one of the old threads: It's so easy to overlook when it was posted and start posting like it's a fresh thread.
i wouldn't waste time on it. we have lots of people to actually sue within our country. but i dont want to go much trouble. its not worth. go on with your life and let karma punish them for what they do.
For $500, do you want to sue someone? cost of suing could run into thousands of dollars, not worth the effort.
