Is it possible to promote you link (properly) in various Yahoo Groups?

I've never tried it so I don't know...

    Thanks,
    Andy...

I find it to be tough nowadays. A lot of the time your comment, as harmless as it may seem, will be flagged by some user (or your competition) as spam. Yahoo! doesn't tolerate spam, and they'll ban your account. It's happened to me numerous times and the return just doesn't seem worth it anymore in my opinion.

    Hi Andy,

Your time will probably be wasted advertising on yahoo groups. When I was a newbie IM'er my ads were flagged as spam too. I quit it well over a year ago when I learned providing value with articles and blog posts is the best advertising method there is.

I would stick to proven methods like forum marketing, visiting high ranking blogs and leaving insightful comments, etc.

Not any more. There use to be a time when you could hack any yahoo group by figuring out the owner's email address, and spoof the address to send out a message to all the users.

From what I've heard, they are more trouble than they're worth. As far as I know, they are nofollow (which isn't always the kiss of death, if you can get enough eyes on your link, but Yahoo groups won't help you much with that). Your time would be better spent article marketing, doing some guest blogging, and posting on forums that are related to your niche.

There are a loyt of marketers who have success in Yahoo Groups. However, you have to be careful about not coming off as spam.

    WOW!
    Start your own group........
Use your imagination (use youtube, etc....)

Yahoo groups is AMAZING because a lot of people just get the posts sent to their email. A lot of people click on links if what you are offering them is worth it to them.

ANYTHING will work if you learn to get the damn money signs out of your eyes and treat people as people and not as customers.

Years ago I started a bird house group. I knew nothing about them, but I knew a guy who did custom made birdhouses.

I was able to make $1,000's of dollars because everyone wanted a custom birdhouse.

There was absolutely NO cold selling.

All I had to do was post a couple of custom birdhouses (not as a sale)...

Somebody would post.. "Hey, do you think you can make one for me?"

Then you say.. "They are kind of expensive to make and ship".. "I would feel uncomfortable charging so much"...

And then the rest is history. :)

..... You want people to beg you for stuff (if it's good enough)

I'm going to stop right here... It's late, I'm tired, and I almost gave away a huge secret that I have kept for years....lol
I don't want you stealing any of my Yahoo Group customers :p

I don't think its worth that you waste your time on it while you are not sure about result of it. I know many people were not successful with it. So i don't suggest it for you.
