You can give them both a similar look and feel, thus making them feel intergrated.

yes it can be done. I don't know if it has been done though.

 

There will be three columns. The left sidebar will have the categories, the middle will be the blog and the right sidebar will have the links.

Well you could proabbly use wordpress to embed php to read phpld's database. Wordpress does have the ability to edit sort and add links.

The only benefit phpld would have is if you had quite the large database but, in the format you're describing I wouldn't be able to recommend trying to intergrate the two.

I was trying to make the point that unless you had the room to display alot of links then the directory would be a large hassle.
