These days Google seems to be taking more and more notice of tlds. With enough strong backlinks though would it be possible for keyword.mx to get to the top result of google.com where "keyword" is a popular keyword? How much more difficult would it be than keyword.net, keyword.org, keyword.us etc. ?
It would be extremely difficult outside of Mexico. Just think about the last time you saw a ccTLD not within your country show up on Google page 1, within your country (for me, I can't even remember it). Overall I doubt that Google would justify showing a ccTLD so high for a keyword outside of its country. Yahoo is another story, though.
@FREE BET: online games. So what do you guys think about the .net, .org and .us equivalents? How much easier will they be?
It is possible but you need to use US ip based web hosting company and a lot more effort compared to generic TLD like com/net/biz/org/info. 1. You need a much more of link building from US ip based website. The relevancy is a plus. 2. If you can acquire authority link in US location such as CNN.com / AOL.com then it would be a plus. 3. If your website has been mentioned or featured in some US based community it would be a plus. ie. Technorati.com / Wired.com 4. You need a lot of content towards US visitor and not Mexico. ie. Your niche is online games so you should write content about online games that have large user based in US and not a local Mexican online games.
