Is it possible to have an animated background image?

Is it possible and or feasible to have a animated graphic for a background image? Would the page still have a decent load time or would it get bogged down?

Download time not bad. Think an animated background will grow old real quick. It is about as obnoxious as a midi file playing on site. (I've had both but do not recommend.)

    Good luck.

I'm not all that keen on it myself, but the person I'm doing the site for thinks it would be awsome.

Animated background images are so 1990's. To have one is the sure sign of amateur web site design.

Ask them what would they prefer: To keep the surfer and use no animated background or to lose the surfer and have the animated background. You can also put up a test page for them, use an animated background with alot of text, a couple of marquees, flashing text. Might change their mind.
