Even the most secure with encryption keys get hacked. Hackers find loopholes in all sorts of systems...

Not only is it possible, it is easy to do. I am assuming that you are more concerned about someone intercepting the communications from your computer to your router than you are about someone getting online using your wireless connection.

If you are worried about intercepting communications there isn't a whole lot you can do to prevent it. The transmissions should be encrypted, and if you are really concerned, consider setting up a Radius server for authentication.

If you are worried about people using your internet access, limit access to a specific MAC address, and use a secure password.

None of this is really foolproof though, and a determined hacker can still get your signal.
