I was thinking of setting up donation on my website, since i don't want to charge membership fee. So, i was thinking if paypal would have any problem with me doing that throu them and since it is a donation can i ask my users to post as a gift to avoid paypal fees? Thank you for all the input

Did you check the Paypal help center?

    https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/xcl/rec/donate-intro-outside
There is more information and examples at that link.

Cannot done that coz you're not non profit organization.
The donation is no fee only if you're non profit organization.

DONATION is possible if your website is not having any PROFIT
when I mean PROFIT doesnt mean no earning, But those earnings are just spent for server cost means NO PROFIT

    https://www.paypal-portal.com/charity/faq.html
And it's not even free for charities:

Getting a fee-free "personal transfer" payment is meant to be for something like a birthday present. If you are getting personal payments from people with business/premier accounts it is going to make PayPal suspicious - it's only supposed to be used between people, not businesses.

If you look at the Paypal information about donations, they clearly say:
You are expected to pay the same fees as everyone else.
