Is it possible to get 1 million visitors per day without spending any money?

Is there any website gets 1 million visitors per day? I know google, yahoo, msn makes more than 1 million. But apart from those websites are there any websites?

 

Theres a couple of websites that get a million+ visitors a day
facebook, myspace, youtube, plentyoffish, rapidshare, and thats about all I can think of right now.

 

Many sites including Social Bookmarking like Digg,del.icio.us makes 1million+ & also rediff and other big portals make this number

I have got almost 172,000 hits per day but 1 million is too much .

More seriously though, if you have got a groundbreaking idea, the "next big thing", you won't need any advertising to get it off the ground, although breaking the 1 million mark would involve something more than that...

 

BTW, thinking about it, Youtube didn't spend a cent in advertising if I ain't wrong...

Unless and until you have a utility websites like email, video sharing (youtube), or community sites like ( orkut, hi5) , it is difficult to expect more than 1 million traffic per day.

If you mean spend money to get the traffic, than yes. You'll obviously have to pay for hosting and the bandwidth charges.

It's actually quite easy with the right niche. Not sure why anyone would want that much since it wouldn't make you any money.

 

There is the possibility, with self promotion in all, I dont know of any that have done it without any money. But surely anything is possible.

You could affiliate, text link trade, work for hits, submit your site everywhere...

 

Ummm, Yes , all is possible on life , why not to have over 1 million visitors to a new site ? I think depends on the site and how traffic or where is coming from.

 

If you have a new (and I mean new) idea which a large group of people want then yes. Facebook like sites are so famous because they cater to the psychology of people. People come on the Internet to have fun and everyone wants to meet up with friends and share stuff. Hence, social networking was a big hit. Think of a new idea and you could be the next Digg!

That shouldn't be too hard if you use free as well as paid advertising methods. I personally think you will need to invest a little bit of money in paid advertising in the begining. Then if your website is good enough it should spread by word to mouth and should keep those readers who were brought in by your advertising hooked. Here are some free methods of advertising

6. Reciprocal Links
7. Quality articles
