Hi, I'm doing some experiments in the content network. I would like to know if given a keyword list is it possible to estimate the traffic and the cost per click in the content network. My case is that I started bidding $0.20 for some kw and I lowered the bids 0.02 every 24 hours with the intention of reach $0.07/click. But when I lowered from $0.14 to $0.12 I went from 200 clicks daily to 60 and I think that if I continue lowering bids I'll run out of traffic. Help please, thanks in advance
In order to reach your target price: - get high CTR (1% is great for content) using better ads - use keywords with less competition
hotbacon- You cannot expect to get a 1% CTR on the content network, as many of the ads are below the fold. I have seen .50%+ CTR but generally its very rare. However, he is right about the fact the only way to decrease your CPC amount is to INCREASE your CTR. Or simply slow down the rate in which your lowering your CPC. Instead of .02 every 24 hours, put it back at .20 and then start decreasing at .01 every 24 hours. Just a thought, and I'm probably wrong
And what about the expensive kw? Should I avoid them? Let's say that I want to promote a Nike offer in the content network. My strategy is to get a kw list as long as possible and then I split it in groups of 50kw each. Question: Should I bid on a expensive kw like "nike"? I'm starting to think that I shouldn't bid on it but center my campaign on cheaper terms like longtail kw. I think that one of my mistakes is to bid on those important kw but and the begining I thought that in content network I could bid on those kw paying $.05/click after lowering bids.
On the content network is all about "theme's" you could bid on that keyword, however you can expect to pay more. I say test it, and figure out what its costing you. Then make your decision to either cut that adgroup or keep it.
