In the niche are of probate law I work in, there are very few open niche (content relevant) sites for attorneys to post blog articles. If I create a network of probate blogs can I charge a fee for blog post and link? What am I missing? If yes, is there an easy (paypal) interface that I could charge $2 to $3 buck a post?
To get to a pr 5 rank is it better to be in a blog community like wordpress or do it from scratch? I have a related website that is a PR 4 should I create a sub domain for the blog? Would that get me nearly there?
First of all, yes you should be using self hosted wordpress, not the free version. It is the easiest to use and set up additional authors, besides you can't monetize wordpress.com blogs freely. But, charging for blog posts is not a sound business idea, even with high PR, because traffic is more important than page rank. It sounds like you need to look into opening a niche forum, where readers can participate, and monetize it with advertising. I wouldn't pay to post content anywhere, I would expect to get paid. JMO
Thanks for thoughtful remarks... I am pretty sure my niche is too small to get enough traffic for a forum. There is nothing more sad than seeing a forum with only a few posts. But maybe I could make the forum part of the wordpress blog?
Definitely do-able. There are plug ins for that. I think your first hurdle should be to get the blog started and get some great content going and promotion. You can only see what is possible when you determine the market size and amount of followers you can build. A lot of good ideas are only possible if you have the traffic, otherwise you end up promoting several different aspects at once without ever really capitalizing on any of them fully....trust me, I have about 20 half assed blogs, and ideas from biting off more than I could chew at once...it was only when I went back and started concentrating fully on each one, one at a time, did I ever see any success...even a little bit.
If you can create value in the mindset of your visitors then they may be willing to pay to be included. It's really that simple. What's in it for them?
