I read an article about the guy who basically owns all of the .cm domain names... Does anyone know where and if it is even possible to register one of these types of domain name extensions? I am unable to do so at dynadot and godaddy. I am looking for these in particular. .cm .co
Cameroon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.cm Registration restrictions: Local presence required Why would you even want to register a .cm domain, they're totally worthless from a resale point of view. Though I wish I was Kevin Ham: http://money.cnn.com/magazines/business2/business2_archive/2007/06/01/100050989/index.htm
Lolz good 1 htmlindex but IMO it may cause suspension if u dont have a TM'ed name, coz "lokal presence required"
Huh??? Who said that. I said that Local presence is required, which I presume means that you have to live in that country or have some sort of presense in that country, eg. a company there.
Kevin Hamm doesn't own any of the .cm domain names, that was the beauty of his business model. He owned the rights to forward every non-registered .cm domain name in existence to one site. I remember reading that that deal is no longer in place though.
Im fairly sure that the deal is still in place. Try hdjgfjhdj.cm for example, still redirects to agoga.com. Agoga.com is owned by Kevin Ham and acts as the catchall for any unused .cm. You can get an idea of the power of this deal by using Alexa. Mid 7,000's. Not so bad. Someone mentioned earlier about .co. That, from what I understand, is reserved by Columbia. Im not sure about Mr. Ham, but I would not venture into the jungle, even if it means striking gold.
you two have discussed quite a lot about .cm domain but i have a query is this domain extension as user friendly as .com or .co.uk. Please advise i recently bought a domain with org and am interested in buying domain with local extensions also
A quick search of Google came up with a few sites, one of them: http://www.combell.com/en/domains/extentions/country.asp?landcode=124 Are you not allowed to register .cm names anymore? Haven't done much research on that extention as it's got no use to me From an SEO point of view, the domain extention doesn't matter
