Is it possible to break an image into layers using a border?

    Let's say you have a picture with different shapes (squares, triangles, etc.) that are a certain color. All of them are separated from each other by a border which is another color. Is it possible to somehow use this border and tell Photoshop to break this image into multiple layers each of which will contain one of those shapes?

    The purpose is to save time and effort of going through each shape and carefully cutting it out and pasting it in another layer with the Lasso tool.

    Why lasso tool? If they're all solid color the best and probably the fastest tool to use would be magic wand
