I currently us yaBB for my financial forums. Everyday I get Russian spam posts and while I ban the IP address I get spammed again the next day from a different IP ...... all from Russia. Is there a way to ban the whole country?

try to increase moderators and ban as many as possible. due to these never ending proxies, it is really hard to restrict any country from entering your forum.

DP doesn't seem to suffer from spammers. How come? I reckon it is because members report spammers and they are quickly banned but also because it takes time before members can post. That and DP allows signature links - a little bit spammy but in a classy not in your face way.

Make sure you have email activation on and block all fake email domains.

You won't ban a whole country effectively.

Yes it can be done by blocking whole range of the country IP.

it can be done via strict firewall rules. you can ban ips, malicious ip even open proxies not an issue. but need expertise in it

i think your quesiton has been answered to be honest. you can ban them but they'll be back, trust me! proxies etc. and sometimes they can have a ip address based in another country. Best thing to do is moderate your forum intensively or pay someone $10-$15 dollars per day to do so.

I recommend banning Russia, China and Nigeria, you won't loose any business and spam and attacks will decrease by 90%
