Is it possible that "Live Help" could hurt sales

I run a website that sells computer software. For years now I have been running a Live Help system. Just lately I have been doing remote contract work, so I could not turn on the Live Help. The interesting thing is sales actually have increased.

My analogy I am thinking is Live Help may be similar to when you go into a brick and morter store and a salesman is following you around. For me when this happens, I leave.

Is it possible this same scenario applies to the web too?

If your live help has big pop-up boxes, that's a good analogy. Testing pays off, even if it's accidental :)

This definately qualifies as accidental :D - Jury is still out, but its sure looking like the theory may hold water. (My graphic is only 234x25, so its not very big at all)
