EXCLUDING Adsense, do you guys think it is possible for me to make $1,000 a month with my forum? It is PR4, expecting PR5, many inner pages at PR3. 30,000+ uniques a month, a billion+ total page views every month. I know that seems high to a lot of folks, but thats the nature of a forum. Login> forum > topic > reply > submit > repeat = lots of page views. The url is http://www.geek4ums.com
well...can not say for sure..but on specific forums you can display ads from comission junction advertisers and see how they convert.
I'd say it's very possible if you go with private monthly ad sales or something like that. Of course it's going to depend on the niche, what kind of users you have (legitimate posters vs. tons of spammers), and how well you can market the ad spots.
Yep, people can easier make more than $1,000 per month without adsense. It seems that people think Adsense is gold. If you use adsense then no other program will earn more. Infact Adsense is not the worst, but is definately not the best when it comes to earning from your website. For example, there are many people that are building landing pages for CPA affiliate Network offers and then setting up Adwords campaigns to promote them and make a profit from. So if they are making a profit from doing this, then their is 100% chance that this way of earning is much better than Adsense. Adsense is a safer way of earning though I guess as you are not spending your cash in Adwords, but then again you can use CPA offers on your site and get free traffic and still earn a good amount of money.
Adsense is poor income compared to targeted marketing but doesnt take the time or effort of actually identifying your users and then what sorts of adverts they will respond to and then finding a suitable advertiser and either signing up through a system like commission junction or directly negotiating advertising rates with the company. The wider the spread of visitors you are getting the more attractive adsense becomes but if your forum has fairly focused appeal then would never recommend adsense unless you just want to earn pocket money for minimal effort in comparison to proper advertising
I have a forum with a very similar visitors count, I can't monetize it yet, it seems like much more number of visitors is required to get more than $1000. However, it can also depend on the forum niche
Hmm.... sounds bit tough. Perhaps some really targeted affiliate deals could be useful? I'm not sure but perhaps you could sell also links and try something like Kontera (contextual ads). Also - have you considered making $$$ via memberships? Making parts of the forums private and give special perks for those who subscribe? $19 for six months or whatever?
I know some one could make 5000 to $10000 a month, I am pretty sure it is possible question is how to do that...
Well how much do you guys think I can sell ad space for? And where at on the site? Banners, text links, etc.
Well, how much would you pay for them? Also - how about checking out www.adbrite.com or www.textlinkads.com for example and trying to find out how much other people are selling their links?
