Is it Ok?

Is it ok to use a static form of a banner ad and put the affiliate link behind it rather than just pasting the code and having my site look like a strobe-lit dance floor?

Since I did it this way, CJ is showing 0 impressions, but registering clicks

Just making sure because I don't want to get banned.

Ok so how do I get around that? I NEED pictures to display on a table I built, but I don't need a list of pictures flashing around.

Need to figure this out ASAP. I cannot get banned from these affiliates, but I don't want my site looking like a disco ball:confused:

When you kill the tracking pixel you get inaccurate stats and run a risk of not getting paid. But what you are dong will work as long as you can see clicks registered and cookies set.

Some affiliate programs want your click information. There was a big deal a few years ago when CJ was proposing all javascript. I never use javascript CJ links... hate them.

Anyways it will work, there is no reason to get banned for something like this which is not trying to trick anyone. But it's best to write the affiliate program manager and ask them.

Where is the tracking pixel? It doesn't show impressions but as far as I know it registers clicks. How do I make certain that it will track and register correctly?

You can use textlink type for these, they just give you a image with 1 pixel for tracking impression.

So I can attach tracking pixel to a separate link to get tracking of impressions and clicks? How do I do that?

Ignore what others have said - the impression tracking pixel is NOT required & does not have an affect on sale/lead tracking. Deals/coupons sites and PPC affiliates, two of the largest groups of affiliates on CJ, do not or cannot use impression tracking pixels at all, and they're doing just fine.

You can't do like that, because CJ creates both image and link in one ads, meanwhile the image used to count impressions and the link used to count clicks, if you removed the image, CJ will investigate you soon due to that's violation.

I did 2 things: I emailed CJ to ask them and I emaile each affiliate and requested a static 120x60 banner to use.

How quick does CJ update to show clicks? I'm worried that I may not be getting them registered...

Really worried now - it registered clicks yesterday, but today I have none. I've tried clicking my links a few times today but it's showing 0 still...

Just to make sure (sorry) - if it's tracking clicks then it will register commission right? I've got 26 clicks this month and 0 sales so far (on the affiliates that I just have the affiliate code and not the impression pixel).

You're a complete idiot. The impression tracking pixel is http://domain/image-00000-0000, while the click tracking is http://domain/click-00000-0000. I've pushed hundreds of thousands of dollars of commissions, never with an impression pixel. Ask CJ support & they will confirm - the impression tracking is NOT necessary & will NOT affect commissions.
