I've hired a freelancer to build me a joomla website with a blog on it. It is a large website and the blog is only a small section of the website. Would it be better for the blog to be a joomla extension or to use worspress.org ? I am worried that running wordpress on a joomla website might cause some conflicts or errors when wordpress must be updated. What do you think? I would appreciate any advice. thanks Colstek
I suggest you to use some kind of extension of Joomla that can share same database (and same prefix) with Joomla... This will make transfer of Joomla very easy and you will be able to control both your blog and site from the same control panel... Users who register in your site will automatically be the member of your blog and they will not have to register twice... It makes lots of works easier for you as well as for the visitors... So, as far as possible, don't use both Joomla and Wordpress for the same site...
I have a wordpress installed within my joomla thanks to corephp. It's not free and it's not cheap but installation was super easy and it seems to work fine. Here is where you buy it for $69.99usd...I had a 30% coupon for being a Rocket Theme member. I think it is an annual renewal as well. I know, it's the most expensive joomla extension i have ever even seen. http://www.corephp.com/joomla-products/wordpress-for-joomla.html Here is mine installed...on my custom signs website. http://www.nicecarvings.com/social/sign-blog
K2 extension is good. If blog is not that important for this site, I would suggest using a Joomla component. Everything manageable from one place.
