Is it ok for somebody to LIE on their landing page?

I've seen endless landing pages where somebody claims they're making millions of dollars, and then directs you to the affiliate program they're trying to promote. I'm guessing that most of the people who create these pages are lying through their teeth and will say anything to make a conversion - even if they're uncertain whether the program they're promoting will actually deliver results. Do you think it's ok for someone to do this?

Do you really believe all the positive reviews being done?!It's all about the $$$.It is definitely NOT okay to lie but if you have not tried the product you are reviewing at least get the opinion by someone who has.Just my two cents.

is it ever ok? Most such things are pure bunk. But if there's a review where a person actually bought a product, tried it and tells u the good AND bad about it, that's one to listen to.

Some affiliate programs are probably really good but truth is always better than lying to get sales.

And where exactly do you find an "honest" review where that person isn't trying to promote their affiliate program themselves?

Only promote products that you really believe in then you won't have to lie.

And yes I believe lying to promote a product makes you a crook.

    Greg,

Depends on the market. Some people use gray had marketing while other use strictly white hat. For example most of the the work at home e-books affiliate use gray hat marketing strategies. Then on the other hand affiliate such as credit cards, insurance, and debt leads are generally more white hat.

And if the person isn't trying to promote a certain affiliate program through a review, how do you know the review wasn't done by the actual owners of the product or service?

Good point....but if you follow the links to the original sources, given on the site, you'll find that in most cases, more than one poster in the thread praised the product - sure, they could all be the same person....but I feel it is unlikely

and the site also posts negative reviews....looks like a pretty no-holds-barred site
