is it nessasary to spend $$$ to get high pagerank

    If you are in a competitive (or spammy) industry where everyone is trying to make money then getting good links can be difficult.

    If you have no PR to offer then that makes it even more difficult.

    I wouldn't pay top dollar (or anywhere near it) for Pagerank, I'd look for discount link sites instead. Then I'd use that PR as leverage for link exchanges.

    However, those 2 sites in your sig aren't in those kind of industries.

    I wouldn't pay for links in those categories.

    With the video game site you might need to expand and do reviews for older games like Duke Nukem and the original doom etc.. You also might want to do some previews for PC FPS that haven't come out yet like Crysis and "Call of Duty 4".

    Sometimes you might want to just blog about what your thoughts on a certain game in general. Like what do you hope F.E.A.R 2 will be like etc..

    Maybe a worst PC FPS of all time list etc.

    Also fanboyism is big in gaming right now. I wouldn't write a biased article but you can choose what to cover. "Maybe that Ps3/360 port of a popular FPS had to be scaled down." That will validate there new video card purchase. :D

    You might also want to have some sort of forum as well.

    Anyway, your going to need a lot of content.

    You might just want to recruit some of your friends (whatever you do don't tell them how adsense works :( ). Maybe allow them to link back to their own sites. That's a small price to pay for original content.

    I bought some links for one site thats a month old, it has a PR3 in the latest update.

    I bought 0 links for my online game, it has a PR3 naturally.

    get good content, and plus buy links to draw in traffic, and buy high quality links like pr7,8 links, and you'll catch a lot of pr2,3,4,5,6 links with good content, but you need osm good quality links to start catching traffic, unlesss you have a very very good website with very very good content ,and it takes a viral efffect on the web.
