Is it necessary to provide a link to 1)DMOZ 2)the free ODP software i am using can i customise that by removing their references and links.... will it be violating copyrights..... please brief me... YoByte
YoByte, One of the links I gave you in the other thread you started has all the information on what you need to do in order to do what is required in terms of accreditation. Thanks.
YoByte, If you are still talking about the same thing as your other thread - i.e. building your own directory, then part of the terms of use is that you leave those links in - removing them would violate those terms. Hope this helps, Alucard
1- Get the RDF dump. 2- Extract URL to your own database 3- Run a spider to get description from original site and take out all the dead links in DMOZ 4- Add all your other links 5- Organize the links in any directory script. 6- Your own directory and no link to DMOZ needed 7- If you want to provide a link to DMOZ, you can use this link: DMOZ- Authoritative Directory for Rape and Torture Porn Sites.
I think it's in DMOZ licence, that even if you do this, you need to display the dmoz link, and the editor links etc. http://dmoz.org/license.html
They can have any license they like, it doesn't mean you have to obey by it. how can they prove that you have not collected the links yourself. Are they going to claim they have copyright to other people URL? Also if they complain too much, you can always provide them with this link: DMOZ- Authoritative Directory for Rape and Torture Porn Sites.
