Feedback Is it me or is this mod. a ******?

I posted a thread today. Having had a thread deleted and received an infraction yesterday so I was extra careful to make sure I didn't break any rules.

I checked to make sure the topic was fine, I checked the rules about affiliate links and found this:-

"Affiliate links are only allowed in signatures.

Affiliate links are not allowed in posts, PMs, or landing pages. Any vague or ambiguous offers for signups, referrals, or anything else perceived as affiliate "garbage" will be deleted and infractions given. "

So I was really happy to receive this about 10 minutes ago:-

"You have received an infraction at Digital Point Forums.

Reason: Affiliate / Masked Links
-------
download contains Affiliate / Masked Links"

Now I know there's a link in the squeeze page to a free autoresponder but that does NOT have any affiliate details in it.

So perhaps someone will be able to tell me where in the rules on affiliate links, all of which are quoted above it says you cannot have affiliate links in the downloadable ebook. I mean for Christ's sake I've given away thousands of ebooks on Digital Point containing affiliate links - that's the whole idea of giving them away.

That's why I asked the question "Is this mod. a ******?" because there is absolutely no way in a million years that it says anything in the rules about ebooks containing affiliate links being forbidden.

I am so pissed off about this that I can't even be bothered to think about coming back to this forum especially when the mods. act like power crazed dictators enforcing rules that don't even exist. If you can't have affiliate links in your ebook according to this mod. what's the next thing he'll want to give an infraction for - driving a yellow car?

Forgive me for asking, but just exactly what has the content of an ebook, especially one which is legal in every country in the world, got to do with a moderator on Digital Point forum?

 

The only Active mod ATM is Smyrl and he is a great mod that treat's people fair so your assumption that he's @#$%^&* is wrong . Mods might have made a mistake since they work at lightning fast speed to moderate to handle the tsunami of spam DP is facing .

Just appeal your infraction if there was a mistake involved , they will take care of it . Just be patient in the mean time

 

As far as I understand, you used bit.ly services which I think is not allowed to have in the post. You may want to have direct link instead. I can be wrong, I am not Mod. Sorry.

Really ? I couldn't tell . I judged by the avatar , sig links & location and thought that he was a guy whit a passion for hot rods . In my rush I completely oversighted that fact that Shannon is the name of a lady. Anyway every time I PMed her she responded fast and whit great professionalism . She's one heck of a mod IMHO .

 

Forum Rules 101: The Remedial Explanation

-1- If every possible aspect of policy is in writing, forum policies would be like reading War and Peace. As such they are written in broad strokes and members are expected to be able to interpolate the items between the lines based on the spirit and intent of the part posted.

-2- It's an infraction, not a public flogging. Infractions guide members when they dont read and/or ignore or misinterpret rules. It takes 10 ACTIVE infraction points in here (they have expiration dates) to get a ban, and even those tend to be temporary. Getting one or two infractions is just part of the learning curve, so take it in stride and learn the ropes.

-3- Do you have a clue how many infractions get issued in a forum this size? If everyone created a thread like this to whine, this section would be over-run. Still, giving them is a necessity. That's why making a thread to bitch about infractions will get you (drum roll) an infraction.

Aside from that... yeah, Smyrl is a good mod, and a volunteer. Cut a little slack on the guys that make this place less spamalicious than it would otherwise be. A tantrum from a newbie is not likely to be helpful to her, and for obvious reasons isn't helpful for you. Might help to think things thru before hitting "send" on another rant. Just not a productive thing to do.

 

A mod gave me infraction for PMING him. And he never replied regarding my problem WOW DP!
