You can NOT use any image on your site or in your videos unless you created the image; you have permission from the copyright holder; copyright has expired on the image; or the creator of the image has made it copyright free - its that simple.

Stealing images from other sites via Google images is illegal.

I agree with this person. To be on the safe side, always ask for permission or purchase a license to use it if one is available. Sometimes you can get fee stock images with permission granted to use them for whatever you want.

I would imagine it would be ok for google to lie, cheat, and steal, but not ok for anyone else.
after all, who did google contact before collecting and showing billions of images?

Not according to the decisions of the courts. Have you read that ruling?

Its illegal wherever you are. You can't steal other peoples creative works. Every county has copyright laws. Also if some smart lawyer could probably make a case, that if you site can be seen in the USA then you can have action taken against you under USA law (I not saying that they can or can not.)

Google will certainly ban you from adsense if they see you are stealing other peoples creative works.
Many website hosts will take your site down if they get a cease and desist letter from a copyright holder.

I use Morguefile, Pixabay, flickr, and public-domain-image and for most things they are great. Just be sure to check the Creative commons licenses!

When you key in a word at Google Image and the screen shows you lots of images, it doesn't mean you can use ANY of the shown image freely.

To check whether you can use which shown image you can use freely, you will have to:

    1. click on the wheel sprocket image (on the right of Google Image),
    2. select 'Advanced Search',
    3. scroll down to 'usage rights',
    4. select 'free to use share modify'. and
    5. click the button Advanced Search.

After the above, the setting will become 'labelled for reuse with modification'. Any images shown will then be free to use. Probably no or very few images will be shown after the changed setting.

Hope the above is helpful you.

    Bye

Pretty simple answer - Google images is just a big list of other people's images!!!! It's a search engine. It's the same question as asking whether it's ok to use someone else's site that comes up in a Google search.
