Yes, phone numbers are not original works of authorship which can be covered by copyright. _____________________________ Andrew Jaffe Attorney at Law 330-666-5026
Well, what about privacy??? But since on your signature you say you're an attorney, then probably it isn't illegal, but still! I'm pretty sure I don't want my # on some site! lol. +, won't you have a problem with the phone compnaies who have issued these numbers?
I think contact numbers for businesses are for public use.. I don't see any problem on that.. Private numbers of individual??..I really dunno.. better consult attorneys in your place to verify..
At least in the U.S., landline "listed" telephone numbers have always been considered public information. When you get into "unlisted" or "unpublished" telephone numbers where the customer has requested that the number not be release, the result may be different. I would also be wary of releasing cell phone numbers without consent. Although I am not aware of any current law that would prohibit publishing the cell phone numbers, there has been legislation proposed in the past that would do so.
