    Hi,

I'm wondering what the laws are around making your own online version of a popular board game (that is still being sold). If it has a different name but looks similar and has the same game rules is it legal?

I think it depends on who came up with the idea of the game. If it's something with an unkonwn founder like chess or checkers, I'd say go ahead, but if it's something that some developer or company came up with, I think they can take you to court and win.

Not legal. You can't clone Monopoly and call it The Real Estate Game.
