Most likely, if there's freedom of speech in your country. You might want to be careful of laws on litter: you could find that you give people your fliers, only for them to chuck them away on the next street. It's not the most environmentally friendly method of advertising.

Depends on what the leaflets say -- i.e. no racism, sexism, ageism etc...

Contact your local authorities they should be able to answer that question better.

It depends on where you plan to hand them out. It differs from city to city.

I have tried this, but have not had much success, there maybe a few visits for a while but then they drop off. Plus all the hits are localized (which might be useful in some cases)

Hmm. Here's an idea, what if there was a "leaflet" trading system. Once person promises to send around one persons leaflets in one area and another person passes out the other in there area?

It's legal.. atleast here in Canada. People are handing out loads of propaganda in the streets downtown..

(just don't approach people that do not want it as it may seem aggressive in a way)

I seen this on the simpsons so as far as I'm concerned, it's legal in the U.S. To avoid littering laws, you can litter all the leaflets and promotional banners you want at a parade. Again, don't know if it's legit or not but it seems it could be true lol

And if it ISN'T legal it's certainly still OK to do it; civil disobediance is a virtue.

At the moment it's legal, as long as the content is acceptable, but I wonder for how much longer the way things are heading!

It is completely legal in the UK and there are no fines for people dropping them (outside of protected areas perhaps). I've handed out thousands of flyers for gigs and never had a problem.

I wouldn't really suggest you bother though unless your site is locally relevant
