There's 2 considerations here that comes to my mind.

    1. Profiteering from the articles in such a way as to damage the originator. In this situation you are liable for "loss of income" by the source. If your positioning is non-profit or very-far-removed derivative motives then take a look at my thought number 2.

    2. Take a look at the copyright of the original article. Here you're probably looking at how far the originator is going to go in terms of pursuing you over the copyrights. Regardless, in laymen terms it is always good etiquette and faith to cite on your website in plain-sight the source of the articles so it cannot be misunderstood that you are trying to claim these articles comes from you.

Regardless of how you view this, copying without informing the originator is infringement to an extent, both in substance and in form. I believe your mind is thinking of the aforementioned point no. 2.

    Other trivial considerations stowed.

Exercise caution when using content generated by others. In general, the guiding principle is that all original material published on the web is the exclusive intellectual property of the originator whether copyright is claimed or not. It appears that such material may not be copied and distributed by anyone else unless permission is granted by the copyright owner. It seems to me that "fair use" can be a sticky proposition.

Although it seems that individual countries interpret some provisions of copyright law according their own protocols -- but in general the International conventions are observed.

I think caution is the keyword -- nothing may happen because of innocent copyright violations (particularly at this level) but who wants to take a chance in this litigious age?

    Addition to my previous post:

kayapati: in order to allay your concerns, I suggest you contact the copyright owners of the material you source in order to find out what their requirements are for you to re-use it (obtain their permission) -- just to be sure your use is legitimate.
