YSM traffic quality is crap. I've been advertising with Adwords and MSN adCenter, and I decided to try out Yahoo as well, but it seems that the traffic quality they send is very low and non-converting, especially from the content network, where most of the sites seem to be parked domains. Adwords gives me the highest volume of clicks and adCenter gives me highest ROI. YSM just doesn't match up.
I've had good luck in only one campaign that I've been running on YSM -- a very competitive market that would normally cost $10 - 14/click, I am getting for 7-8 cents per click on YSM. I'm getting a lot of impressions but low CTR. The conversions are fairly good, however. I could never do this on AdWords. As for everything else, YSM doesn't hold a candle to AdWords. And MSN for me has been a big fat ZERO. I can't get anything to work on it.
I remember seeing some statistics a while ago about the breakdown of user demographics for G vs Y. This may influence click through rates. Does anyone know of up to date data comparing Google and Yahoo users?
That's unfortunate. YSM actually performs much better for me in terms of ROI over AdWords. However AdWords does drive MORE traffic, but somehow converts less than YSM.
J4... Here's an article about the demographic breakdown between Yahoo and Google users. http://seekingalpha.com/article/64853-poor-people-use-yahoo-better-off-use-google
CAC on Y! is 30-40% less compared with Goog. Probably depends on the niche. Results may vary, consult your doctor before starting any new CPC campaign
