I remember a movie called chota chetan a few years back which was the first one in 3d in my area and back then as a kid, i simply loved it. With all that amazing 2 hour experience building up to a strong eagerness in me, i went to watch avatar in 3d, hoping that the technology would have gone way out of my imagination and i am going to relive my childhood. But after 5 mins of watching it, i was like WTF is this... and after sometime, i have to leave due to massive headache. Watched it in 2d later on.. I dont know what other people get to see, but what i experienced was tormenting. The biggest drawback for me, i have to wear 2 glasses.. Then comes the drizzyness and headaches. Also, i think that the brightness levels goes down considerably after wearing the glasses... specially with the night scenes... I tried step up 3d on another theater, hoping to get a more brighter movie.. but the result is same, it sucked.. Ever since then i have decided not to go for the 3d version as they are just ruining my movies.. But i am confused if it just my weak eyes or the 3d technology in my theaters really sucks... what do u guys think ??
You had to wear 2 glasses? You must have watched it in some shitty theater with shitty projector and some even more shitty 3d System. I watched Avatar, Tron Legacy, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in iMax and it was perfect, no headache, dizzyness none so ever. Probably the theater you went to, used LCD synchronized shutter glasses instead of Stereoscopic polarized projection and glasses. The problem is film makers are over using 3D for some really shitty movies, e.g. Drive Angry anyone? Unless there are out-worldly action sequences or Ground breaking CGI, its not worth watching a movie in 3D. And if there is a 3D movie worth watching, make sure you go to a decent theater where they have proper 3D system.
I meant i already wear spectacles and upon that i had to wear those 3d glasses... Not just me, all the people around me are complaining abt the 3d quality then... Maybe you are right that it might be the fault of the theaters and thats what i want to find out...
yeah - if 3D system and 3D glass is not good then its headache.. Try in iMax or and other good screen - you will enjoy it
I too don't see the hype people make over 3D. 3D is nothing new it was brought in, in the 80's. It's only making a massive comeback now since more people are downloading their movies rather than going to the cinema. It's just a ploy to sell more movie theatre tickets and give you a brain blistering headache.
Sometimes watching 3D does cause headaches and dizziness which is why I don't like watching anything in 3D. I wear glasses everyday and I don't like going to my optometrist and then be diagnose to get another pair.
