Is it just me or is Adbrite near worthless?

I have a finance site that I decided to try promoting with interstitials on Adbrite. The quality of sites in Adbrite is horrible, and so is their targeting.

Even if I put very specific keywords, the interstitial will appear on totally irrelevant sites. But that's nothing...I can't tell you how many spam/autosurf/paid to read sites are in their system.

So then I decided to try clicking on only their "high quality, family friendly site" filter. It didn't do anything. I got the most views from a site which is filled with porno on the first page, and a bunch of proxy sites.

So then I tried filtering by demographic with "white" and income over $50,000. I ended up with several Indian and Indonesian sites.

I can see how this might be worthwhile for promoting specific things, but it seems you're trying to promote something like I am, it's near worthless.

By the way, I ended up getting a couple clicks which were about 10 cents each. It's usually around 80 cents. I hope this doesn't get me smart priced.

I've seen a lot of these with wallpaper sites who displace adbrite on their sites as well..

I personally don't use adbrite to monetize or advertise my sites.

I would not advertise any site with adsense ads on adbrite. If they have paid to surf and traffic exchanges you could get banned by google.

it's a pity because in the surface it looked like it was worthwhile, but in fact it's really low paying and badly targeted. I use it as an alternate url for my adsense blocks, so they don't show very often, but still everyday you have a few cents, I mean really a few. It's simple, in 6 months I haven't done 25$ with adbrite using it that way as alternate url.
