I am an amateur designer and i make some cash here at DP, with design contests and all, designing logos, websites PSDs etc, at the same time improving my skills. It really annoys me when i think & think & think and with some time wasting experimentation, churn out a original Logo or template design and others participant come and rip them off. I just want to know that they really look similar, or if i am the only one thinking that. Contest no 1. ( Start Date 6th Aug. Ended Today) a. This is my design b. This is the one that came after me. c. And this after that. while c is somewhat different design except a little bit of the colors and the box idea, b is, what i think a more technical version of my design, he stole even the effing colors. Contest no 2. (start date: Aug 11.. Not ended) This is My design ( The first entry in this contest) ENTRY BY IPDESIGN he even used the same type of design for logo preview that i did. with bars at the top and at the bottom. ENTRY BY HELADO this is quite different but i think uses the same idea, i thought of. ENTRY BY SIZZLING SPACE i don't want to comment on this entry. This type of things happen all the time in the design world, its called 'INSPIRATION'. But cmon Please don't do it in the same contest, in the same thread. . . I just wanted to get this off my chest. As a designer you should remember one rule: If you don't want your stuff stolen, don't put them online.
Best bet would be to use the Report Post icon at the upper right of the post in question and explain the situation to a mod. They're the only ones who can do anything about it officially. edit: This is why I got out of web design work myself.
Thanks for your honest opinion. Naah! i don't want any enemies, or ill feeling. Now i'll do what many others do, send in entries via PM. I always wondered why people did that. lol. I would leave too, if i find anything better.
I think so stolen design is not at all professional. Just ignore the cheaters and go ahead and after all the CH is looking at all the designs and you definitely submitted it before anyone else so they can judge the cheating too. Also, sometimes there is coincidence that happen in designing World because people sometimes think of the same idea and design and hence their designs look similar Just don't worry about it and try to concentrate on your own designs and no one will point you out Thanks PHYza
I know that it sounds stupid, but sometimes people do it unconsciously; If you see something that you like you might copy it even if your not doing it on purpose. Your designs are amazing by the way
Well, this is hard to judge. If you want to avoid this kind of issue, you shall not publish your design, else others can just "modify" it and become their own design, but you cant say that they are "copy" your design but only "referring". That's why many people go to register their copy right
