The police will be called, you will be taken to the police station and grilled about where you got the money. Your answers will determine if you are "in trouble".

Will your teacher let you pass an exam if you put more wrong answers, even if
    you didn't know they're wrong?

Ignorance has never really been known to excuse anyone. Try to keep that in
mind as you go through life growing up...

that doesn't answer the question, if its illegal or not to use counterfeit money. As in the news it said its only illegal to sell them not use them.

I doubt that is the case, using counterfeit money is definitely illegal.

So you're saying if some one unknowingly uses it, will go to jail?

You know how hard it is to tell the different from counterfeit and real money, it's very hard you need to use a special pen/

Im sure you could play innocent, but if they somehow found a pattern that you were using it at several locations, you would be caught eventually.

    Dictionary definition...

Counterfeit: an imitation intended to be passed off fraudulently or deceptively as genuine; forgery.

However you use it, if you come into contact with it you will be investigated. It is illegal to posses, create, distribute, use any type of imitation currency. Period.

There is no if or buts about it, illegal currency is set, you get caught with it your in for it.

If you unwillingly use it and it has been distributed to you by a shop etc then you are not to blame but will still be investigated and will still be a suspect. If they have the slightest bit of evidence to suspect you believe me they will not stop to search your premises etc.

    If you can, avoid it.

Questions of legality can really be answered by one who's familiar with all and
any applicable laws of your jurisdiction, especially since different countries do
have different ways to handle similar issues. Besides, you asked if one can get
into trouble unknowingly using counterfeit money on a store, though that and
the one I quoted above can be related.

Tell you what, though: ask yourself this question. If a kid walks into my store
and pays me with counterfeit money, will I likely care if he knew it or not?

Kudos to you if you're that kind...
