Is it illegal to encode your site's URL into a video if you do not own the rights?

in all reality movie producers sell advertising spots for just that same thing. when a famous actor drinks a coca-cola on a major film and not a pepsi, coke bought that spot. if you look at tv or film its the same thing. if its branded its all about placement in advertising. good rule of thumb, if its copyrighted or branded ( stay away )

 

Think about it real hard: If you shoot a movie, you'll have dozens, if not hundreds of brand images in there. Cars, shoes, clothes, maybe you even catch an airplane. Don't think that the law requires you to ask for permission to film that stuff, otherwise home movies would basically be outlawed.
If you create an advertisement and use branded material then it's different, but we are talking about movies. It's the same with photographs.

But of course don't take my word for it, ask a lawyer.

 

As long as they are in public it is perfectly fine to tape them. ShanesWorld had an incident that is a perfect example of this. And please don't become a content thief like eBaums World.

 

I will not become a content thief like eBaums World. I go out of my way to make sure everything I do online is legit. That's why I am asking so many questions, even some silly ones. lol

When I go into something I try to find out as much as I can or I will not be able to sleep if I know that I could be doing something wrong, but am not 100% sure if it is wrong or not, sort of thing.

I guess you are right about the movies and brands as it would take years for a movie to be made unless they buy a one of licence or something.
