hi i am trying to set up a small business on ebay, and very interested in selling grobags, but am having problems finding a supplier.
I contacted a seller on ebay UK, and she informed me it was illegal to buy them from UK and resell in australia, does anyone know if this is correct?

    thanks

I can't imagine how it would be illegal. Countries have import tax and customs for this very reason. I would contact australian customs and ask this very question to iron out the legalities. People sell imported things all the time.

    I can't believe it's illegal.

I suspect, though, that you might actually be asking not whether it's illegal per se but whether it's breaching Ebay's terms and conditions? A very different question, of course, and not one to which I know the answer, although one would think it would be reasonably accessible to discover?

I was ebay Australia user but not reseller. I think it it should be fine to do this as long as the item not against govrnmnt law. Imagine, you bough bulk domains name. you will resell it in Australia. Is it illegal?

Why the hell would this be illegal lol

I know of seasonal items you can buy in poundland for ..£1, and will sell in Australia for around $29 lol (like £14) it's no wonder people will go on holiday then fill their suitcases with stuff to resell to make a bit of money back

Such deals are called trading and if these acts ever became illegal, more than 50% of the trade worldwide would not happen!
Just make sure the things you intend to sell in a country is not in its banned import list.

Sounds like they just don't want you coming into their market.

I don't think its illegal at all.

    1) Who knows where you bought it from
    2) When has there ever been a law against selling any normal product in another country.

Like the others said, if it was a matter of import tax that is taken care of at customs.

It's probably a licensing issue - the product may be licensed to a different manufacturer in different parts of the world, and suppliers are bound by contract not to supply outside of their region.

And/Or, as it's a product for children, it may be that it has to have safety certificates for different countries that it doesn't have.

EDIT - and a quick look at ebays ToS confirms that you are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to sell a product in a specified market

    quote - my bolded emphasis
There is the risk that you may be sued or prosecuted. Such liability may exist vis-à-vis the owners of trademarks, copyrights, or other rights (e.g, if a European trademark owner were to attempt to assert rights in connection with the importation into Europe of legitimately manufacturered goods that were intended for another market.
