Is it helpful to submit to directories?

    Hi there,
    I am a newbie to the SEO business.
    I know that submiting to directories in the same niche to your site could be helpful in increasing traffic and improve SEPR.
    I've seen many submitting service which will help submit your site to a lot of directories in short time at bargain price. I just wonder if it worth the money.
    Some people said that submitting to a lot of directories in a short time is not a good thing as Google can tell good backlink building from the bad ones and sharp increase in backlink numbers indicate fake SEO work.

    Yes it is helpful to submit to directories. The biggest advantage is that you have some leeway on setting your link text. Deep links can also help your SEO.

    it's helpful for the link building and serp.
    but you need to select manual edited, search engine friendly web directories to submit to.

    I'd like a list of quality free directories that do not organize frequent picnics of keyword stuffing in title and description...

    I am sure there are good free directories, but cant agree that many good directories are free ;)

    This is false.

    Directory owners approve at different speed so your link will appear gradually.

    This is only a meme invented by the guys who offers so called "manually" submissions at a slow pace.

    it is oke to submit directories, you get traffic and back links at the same time.
