I agree... getting ranked at Yahoo has been an incredibly difficult job... and once I got listed at the first page I have been stuck in the 7th-9th position and never managed to climb up no matter what I do.

As long as you have done a thorough read of Google TOS, you should have clear sailing getting site accepted..Takes much tip-toeing to get accepted and not violate TOS if site is ill-concocted.

Well if you go the free route, Yahoo seemingly does not even look at your sites, or mine anyway.

Why would they look at your site? There are millions of sites and hundreds of thousands are created every day, how could they visit them?

I've always found it harder to rank in Yahoo then in Google. Yahoo definately has a mind of it's own.

i think that yahoo changes its parameters often while google changes about once a year its all algorithem to the market needs. yahoo does changes its basic parameters mostely the most common parameter to change is diffrence between incoming links to outcoming links.

yahoo used to show sites with 5:100 than , no days I see that it requires somthing like 10:1000. (1:20 .... 1:100). it does depends at the keyword.

Yeah, if you intend on making yourself bald or giving the old frontal lobotomy to your site go right on ahead and list in Yahoo...Happy Trails, Pilgrim.

I dont agree , yahoo is much more specific it doesnt have ranges like google , its either you hit the parameters or you done , google has its wide ranges.
i have 2nd position site in yahoo top keyword , it didnt take much to put it there just setting the correct params.

Do you mean listed, as showing in the index, or ranking well? Google is the #1 search engine and the top target everyone shoots for because it is going to bring you more traffic 9 out of 10 times. Google is more selective on what it takes for a backlink and seems to favor older domains more than the others. Yahoo and Google have different algorithms and getting a top ranking with yahoo sometimes hampers you with google as the keyword density is more lenient. With over 50 domains, I find it easier to get a top ranking with yahoo than google. Relevant backlinks is the key to google, especially if they are from an authority site.

I agree with the slow indexing of google and yahoo. What I dont really understand is how com msn picks new sites up fast and places them in index but search results for any given keyword phrase is far less than yahoo and google. foe example.

GOOGLE = Results 1 - 10 of about 438,000 for gutter cleaning St Louis

Yahoo = Results 1 - 10 of about 109,000 for gutter cleaning St Louis

MSN = Page 1 of 28,343 results containing gutter cleaning St Louis

I would think they would be closer to having the same amount of indexed pages for that for word keyword phrase.

    thats a good questions:
    1) msn does grade its sites more often , it used to be during the weekends and they moved it to monday-Tuesday (GMT). prbably they dont like to work in the weekends.

    2) I am not sure about it but google does see results as pages and msn show results as sites and pages on the sites he sees as entrance pages.

Links from regularly crawled sites will get you listed in both Google and Yahoo.
