I have been thinking it over and wanted to put up a couple of sites within the next couple of weeks, don't know if I should go with a turnkey or not. Can someone give me the pros and cons for using/not using turnkey sites.

    Short and simple.

    Pros: Developed effective = Revenue
Cons: Theres so many out there.

Just be unique and put out updated content.

    hi

turnkey script are used by php so you have to have good hosting company with lots php resources also it is not static URL and that is not good.
But you could try if you like to.

What about using a turnkey to get started then updating with unique content and such and also moding it to look different to the other ones out there, that is if they can be modified

Yes they can be modified to your likings. You can start it up and then later update it. But keep it daily.

The links don't have to be dynamic, use mod_rewrite to make them SE friendly

Simply put, there is no way to make your site standout. Further, your marketing will be a major pain. Many pay-per-click search engines will not let you list the site because they only allow one listing per affiliate program and they will consider a turnkey site as one.
