Is it good to have more keywords (& hyphen separators)?

Is it good to have more keywords (& hyphen separetors)?

The following are questions raised (but unanswered) in one disucssion.
I just create another thread, so more people will notice it.

    1)
Since I am organising a article base, so I wonder if it is good to do the following:
    - www. mywebsite.com/article-type(eg blog)/main-category(eg logic)/sub-category01/sub-category02/.../title-of-page.htm

Although it is well-organized, you see, it is very clumsy.
Will search engine punish this type of URL?

    2)
Do you know if the following situations will get punished:
    - have more hyphens in the URL
    - have more keywords in URL
    Eg: word1-word2-word3-word4 will be punished

    3)
Will the above situation be treated differently when it appears on different parts in a URL, eg:
    - in domain name (eg www .word1-word2-word3-word4.com)
    - in category (eg .../word1-word2-word3-word4-category/xxx.htm)
    - in page name (eg .../word1-word2-word3-word4.htm)

    Any clues?
    Thanks!

A - is treated as a space. No effect positive or negative.

I've heard that you don't want pages more than 3 clicks away from the home page. Not sure if that is more for the human or bot. If you have a well organized but deep directory structure make sure you use a site map. That way all pages will be available to the bots even if they are 3 or 4 levels deep. Personally I'd keep directory names and page names down to just one or two keywords/phrases. If you use keyword1-keyword2-keyword3.html it tends to look spammy.

The deep directory structure is not too important.
You can always use "shortcuts" to link directly to that part. :D
Site map is one way (Good advice mate!), and I tihnk site map is a good idea towards Search Engine Optimization.

Actually this kind of naming convention is derived from what I do with my files in my computer, eg:
C:\My File Center\Comp\Security\Anti-virus\The Comprehensive AV Report

    Comparing with:

    www .learn-is-fun.com/games/video-games/academic/geograpghy-subject/why-geography-is-fun.swf

Since no one will SPAM their own computer, this kind of naming convention will not considered as spammy (you spam for what? Spam for yourself :D )

However when it comes down to Internet, there're reasons to spam URL. that's the mian reaosn why the same naming convention looks spammy in one case, not in another.

PS: The only difference is the words in the "computer case" is separated by "space", the "URL by "hyphens". But you should know why it is "hyphens" instead of "spaces" ;)

Having more keywords will not get you punished (where did you get that idea?!), however it is unlikely that each one of these keywords will have sufficient "weight". I.e. "Cheap-Trip-to-Hawaii-and-Hotel-Accomodation.htm", is quite useless, because the "weight" is spread across all of them instead of keeping it focused. Instead, make 2 pages, "Cheap-Trip-to-Hawaii.htm" and "Hotel-Accomodation.htm", and stuff them with some content...

The reason why I'm worried because it looks spammy.
Just like when the time peole stuff lots of keywords in meta-tags.

You'll look spammy if your keyword density exceeds certain threshold... keyword-to-content ratio is what actually counts.

Another reason why I think it will get punished is one article says you may get punished if you use 2 or more hyphens in domain name or in one part of URL.
