Hello, Is it better to have a directory on separate ip with no other site on that ip? does it help in getting higher rankings or more serps? regards
Hmm, interesting so why do people not get separate ips for their sites? It like cost only like 2$ per moth extra i think for single ip ? I have now 2 sites on different ips i will see if they rank well. I did notice a jump for competitive term "free image hosting" from 180 to 82 spot on google.
Some say yes, some say no, I don’t take the risk I have unique IP for each of my directories, Ask Directory / Red Pines.
It will cost more if you host your sites on different class-C blocks since you may end up having to manage your sites with different hosting providers. When people say unique IP addresses for better serp, they usually mean different /24 address prefixes.
Could be, but do you want to take a chance of not giving your clients the best value by only saving $24 a year?
Well yea, I understand everyone has a particular view on things, but where was this theory inauguration? Where are the facts to back it up. These are things I would actually enjoy reading if they were written to read. I just see sites on the same IPs that have good PR. The one thing that I personally would like to know, is if SERPs are affected. Rob
I have 7 directories on different IP's, due to peoples perception that it matters. But, often perception doesn't equate to reality.
I have the following websites in a single ip www.nicecoder.com - PR6 www.ideskweb.com - PR5 www.prloader.com - PR5 www.linkpartnergold.com - PR5 and a few more with PR3 I think it's not a problem at all.
I don't see a huge downside of the IPs not being unique, but just for unique purposes, I dish out a few extra cash per month to not host them on extremely diverse IPs. I have a directory in Texas, in UK, and one shortly coming that'll be placed in Hong Kong.
I'm using dreamhost. Same FTP and whatnot but different addies; 64.111.105.197 www.free-website-directory.com 208.113.152.155 www.beacondirectory.com 208.97.133.156 www.deeperlinks.com 64.111.99.83 www.free-legal-directory.com So depends on what host.
I think this really sums up most peoples view on it. Quality pages are going to get more backlinks and nonquality wont. I really don't think Google is implementing any sort of bias on IPs. They treat subdomains as seperate sites but are going after same IP class...... C'mon. This all stems from some Google patent on some software that compare IPs ( so the rumor goes? ) but even so it does not mean it's implemented in SERPS. They probably test out all sorts of methods, see the results and decide to implement or not. If they implemented this it would be FUBAR. Romov and I might get pinned in the same category due to us both being on dreamhost, countless other sites linked because of webhosts... Imagine the way SERPS would turn out. So if you think it thru it's;
