A friend of mine asked me if it is better for him to filter also ads that display a phone number. An example of this is: XXXXXXXXXX For more information call us at 0800-123456 etc or visit the following URl www.xxxxxxxx.com i don't know what to tell him, any advice? Thanks for any reply.
I would. They are trying to get people to call them instead of clicking the ads. I do not know if it is against terms also.
If the ad is for a service or something else they can sell over the phone they are trying to get people to call instead of clicking the ad. If people see the ad with phone number on your site and call instead of clicking it you do not make any money. Alot of people would rather call a phone number then buy a service from a website. They go to site read about it and look for phone number alot of times.
Since it is approved by google it is not against the terms. DomainLoot, i really need your opinion why NOT filter. Usually, i think they are very low paying ads with a minimal chance of getting clicked. There are two options for the visitor, click or phone, is it fair for the publisher that offers the space of his website? (I really mean valuable and good websites not MFA).
i understand. however: how many ads are we talking about - a few a day, maybe a few more? seems like a big waste of time to "seek out and filter out" a few ads here and there? why not invest that time into creating/updating content instead. plus, isn't filtering ads NOT RECOMMENDED anyway? anyway, best of luck.
The content is created daily in the website i am talking about. Full articles and updated news every day and even 2 -3 times daily. So it is no matter of content. But in all cases there are three options for the advertiser and 1 or 0 for the publisher. Advertiser options (especially in smaller countries) : Highest number of ad views, minimal chance of getting click, contact number for not getting click AND ALL FOR THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY. Publisher options : Click (in the minimum value of money) or nothing. And something i forgot: Imagine an ad law office call 0800-1222222 www.blablabla.com WHY SHOULD I CLICK? i can write down the number and that is all.
Thay might ad phone number after ad is approved. Google terms are not clear but i think they will stop this sooner or latter. It hurts publishers and google. No Unacceptable Phrases Avoid call-to-action phrases such as ‘click here’ that could apply to any ad, regardless of content. The limited text space should be used for concise, informative language that sets you apart from your competition. Phrases in the 3rd line of your ad cannot continue into the Display URL.
I totally agree with your opinion now OR another suggestion: advertisers who want their phone numbers displayed in their ad will pay the maximal bid for their keywords but no placed in the first row of text ads space OR: Pay an extra value that should be shared between google and publisher based on the number of displays in every webpage.
I say they pay more for the add and pay per impression and per click. The per impression should be the same as per click because less people will click the ads. I just notcied in terms that templates made for ad networks are not allowed and still see those ads in adsense.
The reason why you want to block the ads is because they are getting an action for free meaning that you and Google will not be getting anything for it.
So, i told to my friend to filter those ads, if he finds them. He also thought that it is more fair for him.
I never suggest to click or not to click. I don't have the right to suggest. What I DO in such cases is my problem. Every individual can do whatever he wants. If i am been asked for a suggestion, i just give my opinion and that is all. That is why i opened this thread. To ASK for your opinion about something that maybe i am wrong. Discussion solves all problems.
