Compared to a couple of years ago, it seems to me that good backlinks are harder to get now. I think this is because certain types of links have generally been de-valued or are now mostly tagged with "nofollow". These may include links such as reciprocated links, forum links, blog comment links, article links, directory links, sig links, links from non-relevent pages, etc. You can still get these kinds of links, but they aren't worth nearly as much as they used to be. This may have happened partly because the search engines have gradually become more careful about how they evaluate different types of links. For these reasons, I think it has gotten harder to obtain good backlinks now compared to two or three years ago.
If you have good content then getting good backlinks won't be too hard. Natural links are the best anyway, so just try to write stuff which people will like enough to give you a link.
One idea: create tons of unique articles (not all the same!) and submit them to many different article directories (search this great forum for those). This will create many backlinks to your site and will eventually get the ball rolling. This has worked great for myself.
Yes, but if you work hard and have some link building tallent like article writting or press release writing then it can be a lot easier for you.
I dont think that it is hard to get the backlinks if U do the directory submission, article submission, social bookmarking, press release submission in the relevant sites and in the relevant category then U may easily get many backlinks
