Is it Content Duplication!

    Hello webmasters,

WE all know that content is like a food for search engine. If we provide new content to it. It will gulp all that, and attract towards that site. But whenever finds duplicate content it doesn't even see towards it.

    So, my question is that

    1) In every site there are navigation links which are same through out the site.
    2) some write links with phrases like

    >> tourist places in London
    >> tourist places in Chicago
    >> Tourist places in Toronto
    >> tourist places in Honkong

here 'tourist places' is repeated too many times. It's density is also too much.

    3) Many sites write small content in footer, same in all pages .
    4) some while submitting sites to other directories and site, post same description which is in web page. And site get listed with the same content.

IS THE ABOVE POINTS CAN CAUSE CONTENT DUPLICATON.

    Any suggestions.

    Thanks..

Duplicate content has to be pretty damn similar, and to my understanding a part of that is layout - otherwise sites like goarticles.com, etc, would be under a lot of pressure.

I think line-by-line quoting of a few paragraphs on a totally different webpage isn't enough to trigger DC filters, and a footer with links or a disclaimer on every page certainly will not.

Keep it in the links if thats the keyword. I ranked a page just now for all the engines and using that with no problems.

you mean to say the HTML structure. (talking about the static site)

You mean to say if the paragraphs are ditto similar then only there is content duplicacy.

Suppose if i write a general content describing 'tourist places in London' and change only destination name while writing content for 'tourist places in hongkong' . In both pages content are not ditto similar. Because the destination name has been chanaged.

I am talking about the footer content, which is of 2-3 lines to increase density. Mostly same in many websites.

    Any Advise / Suggestions.

So far we have most of our navigation (top, left and bottom) duplicated across our entire site using SSI (site is about ~ 20 pages total). The nav is also heavily SEO'd with alt and title tags. The result? We rank top 10 for most of our targeted keywords/phrases. So for us, duplication of this "framework content" seems to be OK.

    It's a percentage thing...

If you have a 1000 word article about "Tourist Places in London" and simply change the word "London" on every page of the site, but keep the rest of the content clean, it's pretty clear you're going to get busted...

to fool google, you need to make a set of different paragraphs, and places to insert different keywords, then run a program that can randomly put them together. The content is then similar, but different enough to fool goog. Just be sure not to make the grammer bad. Rumor has it that goog can track that.

Most of the websites doing this technique to increase the volume of content in their site. But, they are ranking well in major S.E. ie; Google, Y!, MSN.

Why don't they penalized by Google.

When its all said and done: ALL content is duplicate. I don't know about ya'll, but I'm not puttin' out anything uniquely revolutionary. Ya’ll tired of jumpin;' through the search engine hoops yet? PM me if you want to be a shepherd, instead of a sheep.

I still find this issue a bit unclear.
Could someone be so kind to guide me to some information regarding this issue?

    My situation:

    Top horizontal navigation

    Example:

    Horses................... Dogs................................Fishes
Things about horses| Things about dogs| Must know stuff

Now this type of navigation is going to be on every page! So would this be regarded as duplicate content and if so how can i prevent this from happening?

    Example 2:

    Faq section

    Question 1
    Question 2
    Question 3
    Question 4
    Question 5
    Question 6

When question one is being clicked on the main FAQ page i want to create a a whole new page with an answer and maintain the same structure of questions that can be found in a similar manor as encountered on the main FAQ page.

Since every FAQ related page would hold the same questions over and over again wouldn't this be regarded as Duplicate Content as well?

Not sure what to do about this guys?
What kind of methods can i use to prevent duplicate content issues?
