That still doesn't mean religion was the basis, but it does mean a specific religion, for instance christianity, couldn't have been the basis for morality if morality existed before hand.

That's a bit hypercritical, your kind of saying that civilizations existed before religion but wasn't stable yet religions say that religion was the basis that created life (Example: Adam and Eve)

Yes but within our brains are set rights and wrongs either influenced by our parents beliefs and upbringins (morals) or by influences from religion that you have grown up with (religion)
