I think google search and yahoo search best answer your question. No matter the search term, the first few pages are always populated by .com domains. The few exceptions being .org and .edu domains. So, unless your website does fall into the edcuational or organizational category, you should try to go with .com. There are a few directories that require specialized domain endings (.biz, for example) in order for inclusion, but their numbers (rare) do not justify taking a tld other thatn .com.
Yes .com are the best and as people become more techo friendly and websites start to become as popular as facebook you will see high prices for .coms. Then you will see the .orgs go and the .net.... Search engines rank .coms far better also.
I'd have to say that .com domain's are better than other domains. You can bring in more traffic with .com domains. yugo,
TLD on its face has absolutely no bearing on SEO. Period. That .com is remembered more easily is a moot point and again not related to SEO. Nigel
Best is .com , familiar for all people. If you remember the name of one website, you will type with .com at the end. And if the site is not what you are looking for, change the ending with .net or .org , etc, but can be little confusing...
yes .com is the best used all of the world. But if you just do you site in you own country you can choosethe ones like co.uk, with location .
From a SEO perspective a .com domain is the best domain you can get. It is the easiest domain to get listed in Search Engines without doing much work as compared to a .info or .biz domain. When you are buying a domain name please buy a domain name which is essentially rich in keywords and has some relation to the product you will be planning to sell in your website. Also please note to buy a domain with no hyphens or underscores
