The question make little sense... if you want to maximise your audience reach, then you have to use more advertising channels. I would normally start with Google, maximise the potential return then move on to other platforms, Yahoo being one of them.

Yahoo is consistently at the top from an ROI perspective - just lacks volume. With the pending merge with Bing, I wouldn't expect much additional volume (assuming you were already active with Bing) but we'll probably see higher CPC and lower ROI from the merged marketplaces. Agree with Binho, start with google, expand from there. Yahoo is far from best practice, but still warrants inclusion. We like them - sad to see them junking their own infrastructure...

So do you think the merge with Bing will actually harm the advertisers?? Why higher CPC and lower ROI? :(

I think yahoo and google should be very closed in terms of traffic and quality. Bing should be the 3rd. But, eventually, yahoo and bing will merge and this will be a good one in terms of search engine marketing.

I agree Yahoo has performed much better than Google from an ROI perspective. And yes, my CPC with bing/yahoo is higher. I've always had a adcenter (microsoft) account and stopped using it because of poor ROI. Yahoo has always performed the better than adwords and adcenter. We'll all just have to roll with punches.

As with everything, your plan should be comprehensive, and I would include Yahoo in your plans.... just not as the centerpiece

I think the searches done in Yahoo! are not used for percentage points for Bing. It's as if they are getting the benefits of the better search software, but not giving credit......
