With respect to productivity, is it a bad thing to run and manage too many sites at once? Think about the drawbacks... -You have to worry about promoting each site. -You have to spend more time, because now, instead of just a single site, you're in charge of multiple websites. -Slow progress for each site. If you put in as much effort into 1 site as you would into multiple sites, that 1 site would grow much faster. But then think about the benefits... -If each site turns out successful, you'll have money coming in from several websites instead of just one. The potential for greater profit is higher. -You save tons of time. By creating multiple websites, you'll be able to find out what works and what doesn't work in a shorter amount of time. What are your thoughts? Are you the type that runs multiple websites or do you like sticking with 1 website at a time?
Question is far too broad. You need to consider niche, maintenance times for each site, how competitive the market is, etc. If you're looking to run 100 minisites you won't have an issue, if you're looking to run 50 content rich sites in moderately competitive niches, you're going to struggle! It depends on a variety of factors, such as whether the sites are all different or within the same niche, how much time each one takes to keep updated, etc. If they're all just getting started, you don't want to spread yourself too thin or else it can be much harder to get each site up and running. It's not a bad idea to start new ones after you already have some established sites that don't need as much attention as they did in the beginning. Also, if you already have some successful sites and income flowing in, you could outsource some of the work on the other sites.
I think with the panda update it's become more important to own more sites. It really only becomes a problem if you spread yourself too thin. Prove that you can successfully promote one website before venturing into other markets.
I don't think it's bad to have too many sites. However... you have to think about time management. Do you think you can promote each one effectively to make money? Even if you're making 10 dollars a day on each website, if you have 10 websites that's 700 dollars a week! That's a nice amount of money to be made. I think outsourcing in this situation is vital or you're going to stress yourself out working every day to promote and create unique content. You want 10 content rich websites that has value so you can scale it up to make a lot of money. Worse case scenario, if you made some money on the site, you can sell it if you don't have the time to manage it anymore.
quality first then quantity. If you create 100 sites that is poorly created, no seo efforts, poorly placed ads, crappy content=maybe $100 a month If you create 10 site with great design, great seo, good content and nicely place ads=$1000 a month
Yes its bad. Most people do too many then they end up not being able to focus and slack off on all of the sites, where if they only had 1 - 4 then they would've ranked them better. You take those blog guys with 300+ blogs. Honestly, I have one site that is worth more than all of those blogs put together.......that's sad.
I do agree that having too many sites up and running to be hard and time consuming because it is, but there is a way to do it with mini sites in the same niche. Like for example electronics, huge broad niche, but there are many products and mini sites that can be built behind these products. You do still have to promote each site, but you are staying within the means of a single niche. You might want to consider building sites a month at a time, yep more time. Time management is also key when dealing with multiple sites. The outcome to having many sites in the same niche is great, but when you reach out into multiple niches/markets it does get harder because the content is so spread you are now writing about 2 different topics, as when you stay in 1 niche you only have to write about 1 topic, with many sub-topics that lead to many steams of income. Have fun out there and in the end my suggestion is to build up multiple sites in the same niche/market and don't variant your topics so you can stay focused. Cheers -- Will Skinner
Depends on how experienced and well organised you are. If you're starting out, juggling multiple websites is a bad idea -- it's better to focus on an individual project, build it up successfully and then move on to another if you want. Having too many sites without spending adequate time working on each one of them won't get you far.
Very hard to administrate and manage all of sites for a single person unless you outsource some tacks for third party.
It is much more ideal to have a few quality sites making lots of money rather than a large quantity making a little bit of money. Simply, less headaches less stress. If you have more than 10 sites I think it's time to outsource.
i think it very much depends on the type of sites you are setting up and how commit you are. I have 5 sites with me and it seems fine.
Every thing has good and its bad. If you can manage all those, its fine. Promoting won't be too hard if you already have one good website that receives good traffic. You could send emails or newsletter for promoting your other blogs or websites, could add banner in your high trafficked website and you might get some good traffic. And not to forget, try to keep adsense on all your websites which might help for the server costs and other profits.
If you're talking 100+ yes, I think more than 10 is unmanageable, I like to flip sites, so working on around 4 or 5 is ideal, then I can focus on the ones I want to flip soon and slowly spread the work load to the ones I will sell next, 4 or 5 is plenty as I still neglect a couple... I focus on two main ones and like I said - I slowly up the work load on the next ones... Stagnant sites (even with added articles daily) will suffer, Google expects you to work on the design and content at least weekly and if you're dealing with a shit load of sites - then most will be neglected... each to there own I suppose. There's many web masters who can't even manage one site and then there's morons who spend their time spamming all day (ie. submitting blog comments). So learn the basics, work on one site and once you have the basics of traffic and content mastered then step it up to several sites...
It all depends, really. A couple of sites that need to be constantly updated, marketed and have new content added could easily overwhelm someone. On the other hand, dozens or even hundreds of smaller sites that aren't updated constantly could be easily manageable.
To me, we need to open-up multiple income streams for online earning, it is not a good idea to put all eggs in one basket. Thus, I do maintain multiple sites/blogs in different niches. All the best. Cheers!
