is it bad to have large sections no index?

I'm building a new site but only half of the content is there. I have another website on the same theme (for those of you who know my sites, its another insurance site).

Two entire sections, the country specific sections (including country information, history, hospitals), and the insurers section (including insurer insurer information, insurer history, testimonials for insurers) aren't done yet. I'm planning to add them to my site then no-index the whole area.

In total this is around 50 pages.

Having these pages on my site would greatly improve conversion rates so it would be a big plus. However I don't want any of these pages to be looked at by the search engines as the content would be duplicated.

This is one of the reasons why building two websites on the same theme is just a waste of time. If neither is getting traffic I'd consider moving all the content to the older one. If they do get traffic put the articles that are relevant for both on the oldest one (again) and link to them from the newer one.

Actually they both get a lot of traffic. They are optimized for different words. While I'll be copying around 40 pages there are around 100 unique pages there. I definatly don't wan't to interlink the websites..
