I was looking this info up on Google and I can't seem to find if it's bad for search engine results or not. I just about to updated my website with completely new graphic and layout but the same text content. I was thinking about redirecting my 'index' page to my new updated page with in my website. For example, having something like: http://www.example.com being redirected with this code: <meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0; url=http://www.example.com/new/playlist/newsite.html"> to http://www.example.com/new/playlist/newsite.html As you can see it sill has the main domain name with in the redirected url. The reason why I'm doing this is because my current site comes up with in the first few websites in Google and I'm worried that if I replace my old site with my updated site, the search engine won't be able to find my site. If I keep the context text quite similar yet change the coding and graphics, will my site come up in the same priority as my old design? Thanks for your answers!
My previous old website was built around a free template. I started from scratch with my new website design using Freeway with completely different html and css coding. However I tried to maintain the text content from my previous website. Will replacing my old website coding with my new website coding change the ranks for search engine results? I worked really hard to get in first or second place in google results. Thanks so much for your advise
