It's not good. Hyphens "-" and numbers kill the value of domain names. That means if you were to sell your domain once, you wouldn't get much for it. It would also be quite difficult for your visitors to type the domain with 2 hyphens. If possible, try to register a domain like mysite.com. However, there are some domains with one hyphen, but 2 is too much I would say.
i have one domain with hyphens took a bit to get it up there but third on google now for the name of the resort.. took about 5 months thoe http://www.grand-sirenis.com
sometimes i think it can be beneficial, for instance... shoeshit or shoes-hit? lol although it does make it more difficult to communicate, and as said, often decreases the value
A simple question how many times you have typed a domain name in your web browser which has hyphen in it. I guess not many times.
Actually you might be surprised how many people outside of the US will type in a hyphen to find a site. I have a couple single hyphen domain names that get quite a bit of type in traffic, no links to them at all. I wouldn't suggest any more than one though. The trick is getting it branded.
Yeah, as mentioned search engines still co-operate, but using a hypen (-) really devalues your domain...A LOT. Try and avoid them if you can, but if there's no way out then it doesn't matter too much, just stick with it and see what you can make with it (I mean domains are cheap enough, right?)
if you are a domain reseller - stay away from these hypened domains. if you want to develop a website - the hypen won't cause any problems.
You probably won't get much type-in traffic, but unless you're aiming for that specifically I can't see it causing much problem. How often do people type in URLs versus click links, use a search engine, or visit from a bookmark?
When I am choosing a URL I always think about the dumbest person I know. If they couldn't spell it or remeber it from memory I choose something else. It really depends on what it is for though
It definatly not good if you have a "-" instead of just the domains without hyphens and it kills the value of the domain by about half of what I would pay.
hyphens can help search engines find you. for example a search engine will decipher this more easily: window-shades.com instead of windowshades.com that could be windows hades so the first would bring more traffic. as far as value, it does bring it down. but dont be afraid to use them especially if you're planning on getting traffic from search engines.
Hyphens kill the value of a domain name. But if you're not concerned about it, & want SEO benefits, hyphens can help to seperate 2 different words.
for seo it's good if someone seaches for adsense tricks then adsense-tricks.domain would come first..i read in some books.. .that's for search engine traffic site
