There isn't really any advantage for vista right now. The main appeal currently is DirectX10 which is a VERY big thing for big gamers (like myself) because it will not be available on XP. Aside from DX10 I really don't see much of a reason to upgrade CURRENTLY even though I love the look and feeling of vista after I got used to it.

For developers, yes not upgrading mean you cannot test the new technologies in Vista.

However for commercial enterprise, one in my opinion should wait for SP1 or 2. After all XP became stable after SP2

personal choice as someone mentioned in this thread, but i mean theres a lot of downsides to Vista, there are some good things like security, IMO vista is very secure but at the same time annoying!! too many things to approve and so on.. not worth it imo

If you never upfrade to vista you wont miss anything .. as long as you don't use it elsewhere

once you do use it, you'll wonder why you never did it ages ago

There's no debate Vista is way nicer and operates a lot smoother! I run both still to this day but prefer Vista only because I can run it with no problems. As I mentioned before shut down is a little slower but whatever overall it's a great Operating System and far more elite then XP Pro.

I had vista on my laptop and I thought I'd give it a go.

I really liked the docking bar on the right hand side, very useful indeed however, I felt the folder explorer interface was a step backwards as the xp folder interface told you everything you needed to know in a pleasantly presented way.

The vista one tries to teach you a new way of navigating your computer which doesn't feel right after using windows 98, to 2000, to xp.. why change a tested and well known way to use your computer.

It's got the eye candy, and it's got some nice features - but I downgraded after a month of using it. It's just not the operating system I want.

AS i have been using Since 4 months

    If you wanna run Vista
Keep in mind : Games wont work Most of all
Graphics cards and DDR RAM should be high (high performance)

If you know how to use Vista you will love it . it is more faster and reliable then XP

    This is few majors Notes

I think a lot of people (especially big companies) will never switch to Vista.

Unless some of main software developers start to require this as 'minimum'.

A lot of companies said that about XP and here we are it's tough to find an office that is not running XP. You do find the odd 2k machine or 98 but 98% are running XP Now.
