Vista is rly a big joke! They stole a lot of ideas from apple OS X 10. I dont think you should upgrade. In my eyes it would be more of a downgrade because of all the bugs. Try a Mac, and see how you like it. I personly like them a lot better. Good Luck! --------Regards
That if your machine isn't well equipped for Vista. I'd recommend upgrading some hardware together with the OS when thinking about moving to Vista.
Why waste all that money just to make microsoft richer. Keep your current operating system or switch to Linux.
Well going with vista @ this moment, seems to be a waste of money, an operating system, which is full of bugs and i don't know whether Microsoft has ever checked the feedback from the demo versions. Vista could be a good operating system however we might need to wait for the right time. Even i had upgraded my system however for the time, i thought to be with XP only. So my humble suggestion for you is to stay away from Vista.
I never upgrade to ANYTHING or buy anything until all the bugs are worked out. I learnt my lesson with the PS2 and haven't bought a new system Wii or PS3 yet because of the problems. Of course I'm patient haha. Anyone have Vista and wish to give a review on it. Maybe some screenshots? I heard it was supposed to be like 3d or something?
Of course XP has it's own security problems. I plan on getting a new computer before the end of the year and I'm really worried about program compatibility. I know that most of my programs won't work on a 64-bit PC running Vista so I'm a little hesitant to switch over. I always run small programs like Snoop Free (to block keylogging and screen captures) and I don't know if they will be available on Vista.
I have Vista, and i think it's really not worth to update from XP to this version of Vista. It has many bugs and optimization issues (specially with drivers and some games). I'd wait SP1 for Windows Vista and than ill install it - i hope.
This may get lost in the sea of mis-information and mis-interpretation of the question but.. You should have vista installed as a dual boot OS. Lots of things look different through the eyes of a vista user including websites. This is a little more important and has been talked about at sitepoint etc. where there is more designers. Regards,

Correct me if you're wrong, but you're saying websites look different in Vista? I have no idea where you got that from.
Personally I see no advantages in using Windows Vista. WinXP is all I need, it's fast, reliable & established. I don't think Vista is mature just yet.
Vista is good if your hardware can support it. Do not upgrade if your experience index is less than 3. Mine is 5.4 so there is no issue with it. Pretty user friendly and no lag in loading multiple windows. Warning: Get a dedicated graphics card because Vista is a graphics monster.
Yeah I'm sticking with XP until for some reason I am forced to use something else. I like stability. I read webpages looked different though and I design websites so now I'm worried lol. Does anyone have a screenshot of what a website and multiple open windows environment looks like in vista? Would we be able to see the difference on a screenshot or is it more subtle and can only be seen on a vista system itself?
The only disadvantage I can think of right now is Microsoft not getting their share but I guess it's not a big deal really
